E164: It's the holiday season! Take a moment to rest, reflect and refresh

December is always a busy time, packed with holidays, family, and getting everything done at work before year's end. But it’s also a great opportunity to take a much-needed break, to reflect on the year gone by, and look forward to the year ahead.

With that in mind, what are your plans for the season?

This week’s tip is to prioritize rest and take a break. As Alex Soojung-Kim Pang says, “Rest is not this optional leftover activity. Work and rest are actually partners. They are like different parts of a wave. You can’t have the high without the low. The better you are at resting, the better you will be at working.”

Taking a break will help refresh your mind, your creativity, and your stamina so you can operate at your best, both personally and professionally.

Your action item this week is to schedule some rest. That may seem strange, but it’s one way to ensure it gets done while setting aside ample time for everything else you want (or have) to do.

And on that note, David and I are taking our own advice and looking forward to relaxing with our family and friends. The next tip will be coming your way on January 4.

We wish you and your family the very best for now and all of 2023.

Stay tuned as we look forward to the New Year and share even more Tips of the Week that will help you to build a practice that’s more profitable and efficient. We’ve got some great things planned for January, including a live Process Design and Innovation certification program.
