We’ve talked a few times about using AI to speed up your marketing and even write your SOPs (Episode 225, Episode 222, and Episode 183). Here are three other things you can do with AI to save time.
Three ways to use AI to save time in your practice
- Intake: Use chatbots to answer FAQs and handle some aspects of intake. Clio recently put together a list of the top 10 chatbots for lawyers. Check out their list here: https://www.clio.com/blog/live-chat-for-law-firms/
- Research: There are more and more AI-powered legal research tools coming out, but you can do a lot with the generic ones as well. Use Perplexity (https://www.perplexity.ai/) for complex research, and when you need more accurate citations and results you can trust more than ChatGPT.
- Marketing: Google’s free NotebookLM [https://notebooklm.google.com/] can create audio and written research and marketing materials based on the information you upload. Just click on “Create New” and get started. We tested it to generate marketing materials and were really impressed. For example, you can upload your bio, CV, and other relevant documents about yourself and quickly create a podcast-style audio file all about you, generate talking points to present to clients, create an elevator pitch, and more.
For our test, Karen uploaded her CV, a list of publications, and links to Gimbal’s website and blog. Notebook generated a 15-minute podcast-style audio overview that’s seriously impressive. You can give the AI some guidance and suggest the areas you want it to focus on, and then it pulls from the information you’ve uploaded, along with additional information it gathers from the web, to produce a really slick two-person conversation all about you. You can use NotebookLM to generate briefing notes for potential new clients, create summaries and timelines for your cases, and even one-liners and elevator pitches for yourself to prepare for conferences and networking events.
