Last month we worked ON our business and encouraged you to do the same. This month, we’re taking some time at the beach to relax and for us, beach time means reading time.

Here are some of our top book recommendations:

People Solve Problems: The Power of Every Person, Every Day, Every Problem by Jamie Flinchbaugh

Jamie takes a human-centred approach to problem-solving. His latest book digs into the capabilities, culture, coaching, and leadership required to create an organization that regularly solves its own problems. Check it out, and follow Jamie on social – he’s great!

Drop the Ball: Achieve More by Doing Less by Tiffany Dufu.

You know from the title that this is a book we’re going to champion. It's a look at society's expectations for high-achieving women, and how the solution isn't figuring out how to do it all. It’s figuring out how to only do the right things.

Karen says, “I'm not finished yet, but I can already tell it fits in well with our own philosophy around delegation and getting the right people doing the right work.”

The Madness of Crowds by Louise Penny.

All work and no play burns everyone out. You just can't read "work" books on the beach! This post-pandemic murder mystery will keep you intrigued. Released almost one year ago, it was rated as one of the most anticipated books in August 2021 by CNN and Bustle.  [LINK TO:

Win at Work & Succeed at Life: Five Principles to Free Yourself from the Cult of Overwork by Michael Hyatt and Megan Hyatt Miller

We’re big Michael Hyatt fans and we know it’s possible to succeed in your law practice AND have the fulfilling life you've always wanted, but our profession often equates long hours with success. This book delves into the historical and cultural elements behind overworking and tackles the principles you need in order to integrate work and life, so you can enjoy both.

The Only Plane in the Sky: An Oral History of 9/11 by Garrett M. Graff

Although it’s sometimes hard to read, this New York Times Bestseller is a compelling first-person account of 9/11 by people who were there. For those who prefer audiobooks, you’ll be happy to know the audio version includes an exclusive interview with the author and more.
